Single Review - Happy Ending ("Lay Down Your Head")

The Band : Happy Ending

Song: "Lay Down Your Head"

New York's Happy Ending has created a pleasing brand of Coldplay-esque indie rock.

"Lay Your Head Down" begins lightly with acoustic guitar and emotive vocals yearning for a past love. The verse then builds dramatically with synths characteristic of the English band Keane. Lo and behold, this awesome build-up evaporates into a very anti-climatic and bland chorus. Ironically, the subsequent choruses are very intense and the band manages to capture an anthemic, indie rock sound.

VERDICT - 81.6%
Vocals - 7.9/10
Musicianship - 9/10
Creativity - 8.4/10
Lyrics - 8.5/10
Structure - 7/10
